A small town chamber of commerce invited a speaker to address its annual dinner. The community’s economy was bad, people were discouraged, and they wanted this motivational speaker to give them a boost. During her presentation, the speaker took a large piece of white paper and made a small black dot in the centre of it with a marking pen. Then she held the paper up before the group and ask them what they saw. One person quickly replied, “I see a black dot.” “Okay, what else do you see?” Others joined in agreement : “A black dot.” “Don’t you see anything besides the dot?” she asked. A resounding “No” came from the audience. “What about the sheet of paper?” asked the speaker. “I am sure you have all seen it”, she said, “But you have chosen to overlook it.”
My Message
How true this is for our own lives, we tend to overlook and take for granted all the wonderful things around us. Instead we focus our time and energy on the small black dots of failure and misfortunes, when we could be looking at the greater picture of what life has to offer. It's so important for us to look beyond the "black dots". Instead of continually focusing on the problems, you should concentrate on what’s good, this way you are likely to be encouraged and motivated, and you'll automatically start looking for ways to get more of this productive feeling. Agreed It’s easy to dwell on mistakes, regrets and failures but it's your choice to change that right away and to look at the paper beyond the black dot and know that there is more to life than just meets the eye.
May you have an incredibly awesome week!
